Joseph and Ishmael
In the book of Genesis, we encounter a story which is about a man named Joseph. Sold into slavery by his jealous brothers and delivered to Egypt to a man named Potiphar. Fast forward approximately 2000 years, and we see a similar story unfolding in the country of Afghanistan. On the left, Sirajuddin Haqqani, leader of the Haqqani Network and the most powerful figure in the country. On the right, we see Hibatullah Akhundzada, who is the de facto ruler of Afghanistan. Behind them is the Lord’s faithful servant Joseph. So, as they claim, are they direct descendants of Ishmael? The fruit of their lives suggests that they are. The rest is to be interpreted.
